Network After Contact

As pictured in the diagram to the right, RETS IQ Contact
is a Proxy Server which resides in front of an existing MLS RETS server. Contact acts as a barrier between MLS approved client applications and the MLS RETS server, shielding the server from a direct connection with client applications. Client applications needing to communicate with the RETS server first establish a connection to Contact. Contact then connects to the RETS server.

Contact sends client application requests to the RETS server then forwards data it receives from the RETS server back to the client application. In the process of performing this role, Contact will examine the client application’s RETS requests to ensure they are valid and allowed by the filters created in Contact by the MLS Administrator. Contact is transparent to client applications, RETS requests are made as if communicating directly to a RETS server. With unrestricted Filters in place, Contact behaves as if it were not even present, allowing all RETS traffic to pass through while still collecting analytical data for Reports.
